Albastar Ltd has been engaged in the development of technologies for the production of gliders. We believe our mission lies in developing new technologies, producing gliders, training the pilots for flying the gliders, as well as in the promotion, market research and following the trends in gliding.

The owner of Albastar Ltd is Mr Pavel Potočnik who founded the company in 1993 after 20 years of work experience in the factory Elan. He was among the pioneers in making plastic construction. In the mid-1970’s Elan contacted a German company and sent Pavel Potočnik there to specialize in making plastic construction airplanes. Later on he became the production leader, supervisor of construction and finally worked on the realization of the development in Elan.

Albastar Ltd is a company formally organized as a unit, even though it is separated into the following functional subunits: management, trade, production and servicing. Currently there are nine full-time employees, while the company also cooperates with part-time co-workers, providing the company professional help and counselling. They are: Radivoj Kikelj, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering; Roman Sušnik, mechanical engineer; Boštjan Pristavec. If required Albastar Ltd provides the student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to attend mandatory practice.

The development of technologies for the production of ultra light gliders, i.e. modelling activities concerning the production of moulds, the preparation and prototypes are among Albastar’s strongest activities. The engineering section of planning, testing, as well as providing for the necessary documentation regarding the homologation procedure of gliders are quite developed as well.

Basic activities of Albastar Ltd consist of :

• Planning, developing and producing parts for gliders, motor gliders and ultra light planes.
• Repairing the gliders, motor gliders and ultra light planes.
• Developing and producing metal parts for the airplanes (welding).
• Developing wind sails for the production of electric energy.
• The development and the production propellers.

Included in the production :

• Making the wing Sinus, Virus, Taurus.
• Making the propellers for trikes.
• Wind sails used to produce the electric energy.
